Doreen Farr
Doreen Farr is the elected Supervisor for the 3rd District in Santa Barbara County. As a community activist, Doreen has worked to make government more transparent and accountable to the community and taxpayers. Her focus on the Board of supervisors has been to promote fiscal responsibility, champion policies to protect neighborhoods and the environment, preserve and protect agriculture and the Gaviota Coast, and encourage public participation in County government. Doreen previously served as Chair of the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission.
Prior to being elected to the Board of Supervisors, Doreen worked for the community in many ways including as President of the Santa Ynez Valley Alliance, President of the Patterson Area Neighborhood Association, and a member of the County Committee for School District Organization. As a mother of three sons, Doreen has long been an advocate for children in the community and continues to promote collaboration between the county and local schools to ensure our children are safe and well educated.
Having lived in Santa Barbara County for over 25 years, Doreen has been involved in several business endeavors including co-ownership of the Goleta Valley Voice Newspaper and partnership in KSPE and KBKO radio stations and Touring and Tasting Magazine and Wine Club. Doreen received a BA and MA in History from San Jose State University.
